Skateboard videos motivate me to grab my skateboard and go out there. Whether it rains, snows or you just need some inspiration, this list will get you stoked! I gathered the best skateboard videos ever made, listed in chronological order.

I'll start with classics, the legends that made skateboarding what it is today. These videos have inspired many generations, pushing the boundaries of what's possible. In honor of their legacy and to inspire future generations.

40 Best Skate Videos In Chronological Order

We'll start with the famous Bones Brigade show from 1984, and end with Supreme's Cherry from 2014. I'll be adding more soon, it's 2022 now and the list could use an update. Enjoy!

1. The Bones Brigade Video Show (1984)

For nostalgia's sake, let's start with the first skateboard video ever made called The Bones Brigade video show, produced by the legends Stacy Peralta and Craig Stecyk. It's rather pixelated, no HD of 4K back then, just simple VHS technology.

Gotta love the music, I'm an '80s kid and this really brings me back. There are some sick pool and vert skating going on in there and you'd be surprised the stuff they pull off. Bombing the hills, powerslides, flat landing (Rodney Mullen).

2. Powell Peralta – The Search for Animal Chin (1987)

I couldn't leave it out, we're still in the early days of skateboarding videos and again it's the Bones Brigade. This video has a plot that is different (rather corny?) compared to their last video. Fun fact, It was supposed to be Animal Chang but Stacy Peralta misread the name of the title character and this resulted in Animal Chin.

Another interesting fact is that the vert in the movie was rebuilt for the 30th anniversary of the film. The original crew of the brigade reunited and skated the ramp no one skated in 30 years.

3. H-Street – Shackle Me Not (1988)

Staying in the old school area, it may be dated but the shit they pull off makes me jealous. Hardcore vert, pool and street skating that makes your jaw drop. This video belongs in this list! I'm sure Matt Hensley, Danny Way or Tony Magnusson rings a bell even if you're not an '80s kid. Even in 2022+ people still talk about H-Street, know your classics kids!

4. H-Street – Hokus Pokus (1989)

This video was insane, H-street set the new standard withHokus Pokus and showed stuff never seen before. The 360 flip down 7 stairs (Dave Graves) was revolutionary at that time. At the time this skateboard video was a turning point and marked the arrival of a new era. Such a shame Hensley quit pro skating after this video.

5. Blind – Video Days (1991)

Let's go forward a few years. In 1991 Video Days came out directed by Spike Jonze who later became a Hollywood director. This video is considered one of the most influential skateboard vids and took its rightful place in skateboarding culture and history.

What makes this video so special is that Spike Jonze set the new standard for skate videos. The video made a huge impact on how future films were produced and watching Mark Gonzalez is pure bliss.

It's not only that, Video Days is a documentary about the transformation of the skateboard industry from 'corporate' ownership and vert contests, to skater owned street-level skateboarding. It ushered in the era of modern street skating.

6. Alien Workshop – Memory Screen (1991)

Back in 1991 Alien Workshop released their first skateboard video. This video is somewhat experimental and was partly shot in Super 8 format (which ads to the nostalgia). Far ahead of its time, creative editing, great soundtrack and lots of technical, vert, and street skateboarding.

7. Plan B – Questionable (1992)

If there's one video that stood the test of time it's Plan B's Questionable, it arguably set the bar for today's skateboarding. There's a good chance if you ask an older skateboarder which skateboard video is their holy grail, Questionable is the answer.

We see master Mullen creating art, Pat's Smiths and lipslides are jaw-dropping and Colin McKay skating vert and street while Iron Maiden's Aces High plays in the background is incredible.  Everyone in this video was exceptional and most of them became legends. This entire video is a hint on what skateboarding was going to be the upcoming years.

8. 101 – Snuff (1993)

When Snuff was released, hour-long videos were pretty common. Snuff is a really short video with a young Jason Dill doing insane stuff. Some tricks were never seen before and performed with great style and execution. Gino Iannucci and Dill did some crazy stuff that completely changed the game at that time.

The speed, accuracy, and execution were unmatched and this video still holds up to this day. The video was promoted using a controversial cover of a half-naked lady on the floor along with the title "A bullet in the head, a pocket full of Dollars".

9. Girl Skateboards – Mouse (1996)

Moving on to 1996 where a young skater Eric Koston, as well as Rick Howard and Mike Carroll in ‛Mouse', perform insane tricks most of us couldn't even imagine. Spike Jonze wrote a few skits and still to this day this video is considered one of the best. No planned tricks from the masters of street skateboarding, just 100% raw and natural skating.Mouse is Girls second skate video (first was Goldfish, 1994).

This is a must see classic directed by Spike Jonze and based on the German novel Das Maus. The movie consists of skits and heavy street skateboarding. Before the end credits, Guy Mariano makes an appearance and steals the show. Watching his part always gets me stoked, I just love this style. but the whole video is inspiring. Great soundtrack and an audio-visual masterpiece, 1996 was a good year.

10. Toy Machine – Welcome to Hell (1996)

Before we move on, I'd like to stick to this year (after all it was the year I started skateboarding). In the same year Girl shot Mouse, Toy Machine released Welcome To Hell.Even after a long time, the first Toy Machine video stands the tests of time although skateboarding was much different back then.

Mike Maldonado's raw and gnarly footage shredding the streets.  We can see Ed Templeton doing insane speedy grinds and board slides which us mortals can only dream of. Pro skater Elissa Steamer showing the guys how to shred, this woman can skate!

Just before the video was released Chad Maska left Toy Machine to join Shory's. His part was cut out and later added as bonus content on the DVD.

11. Underachievers – Eastern Exposure 3 (1996)

This video was mainly shot at east coast street locations (Philadelphia and New York) as well as a few skate park and vert sections. It has an insane pace and is about balls, style, and raw street skating. Originally the video came out in black and white, but there's also a color edition. Filmed, edited and produced by Dan Wolfe.

12. World Industries Trilogy (1996)

Before we move on, there's one last video from 1996 that became a classic. World Industries Trilogy Trilogy consisted of the teams of 101, Blind, and World Industries and had a huge impact on skateboarding. This video was an attempt to bring together the best skateboarders of the world and create a brilliant video, well they succeeded.

13. Shorty's – Fulfill the Dream (1998)

After Chad Maska left/got fired Toy Machine he joined Shortys, perhaps this was a good move. Here's where we get introduced to some rad technical skating, including Chad. Now, most of the previous videos we're natural and raw but now we see skateboarders finished slides with an added flip as a bonus. This is pretty raw and gnarly footage, skateboarding as it's supposed to be.

14. Zero – Misled Youth (1999)

In 1999 Zero released Misled Youth. Zero was a gritty company and known for doing rad stuff. This was the second and probably best video they ever made. Misled youth is a raw video showing insane tricks and lots of stuff going wrong. The video had a huge impact on skateboarding, just watch the part of Jamie Thomas and you'll understand why. He just kills it!

15. Emerica – This is Skateboarding

This video hits you right in the face from the very beginning (ouch). A mixture of frustration and accomplishment, just like it is.  Then 17-year-old Bryan Herman's one-man show makes his appearance. It's hard to describe what this guy pulls off at his age in a few words, you just got to see it.

I was happy pulling off a rock to fakey at that age, but this guy is from another dimension. I guess he was pretty excited to be on Emerica's video, this shit is sick.  There's so much more to this video, it's hardcore street skating at it's finest.

16. Birdhouse The End (1998)

Directed, produced and edited by Jamie Mosberg. The End,was originally released in 1998 and a remastered version was released in 2001. The re-release doesn't have the original soundtrack which kinda sucks.

This live-action documentary film had a huge budget, over 1 million Dollars (I'm sure that massive half-pipe-loop wasn't cheap). A few skaters play a role in short stories throughout the movie but there isn't really a plot. Bucky Lasek kills Tony Hawk so he can be number 1 for example.

McCrank starts with a great gnarly and technical part. After that Santos lip slides every object in his path. Andrew Reynolds is amazing as usual, and Steve Berra and Heath Kirchart are just killing it!  Must see!

17. Transworld – Modus Operandi (2000)

Moving on the year 2000 when Transworld releases Modus Operandi. This video still feels like it was ahead of its time and has one of the best lines by Mike Carrol.  What makes this video so special is the audio-visual compositions, voice-overs, music, and many night skating sessions.

18. eS – Menikmati (2000)

Great video from the beginning till the end, one of the best ever made. The team visits places all over the world and is a documentary style video. Tom Penny's skating really sticks out, and I love the part with Koston. Not the usual hip-hop punk style music, but a more low key and relaxing soundtrack that goes well with the tricks. Great filming and great skating, truly a work of art. The vert skating is just unbelievable.

19. Baker – Baker 2G (2000)

Baker wasn't even a board company when the video was made but it hit hard. When Dustin Dolfin made baker 2G he lived with two drug addicts which didn't stop him from getting a part in this movie. Raw street skating, bloody decks and a couple of skits. Maybe they could've taken it easy on the slow-mos but that's personal preference I guess.

20. Alien Workshop – Photosynthesis (2000)

Photosynthesis is a nostalgic street skating video. It introduced many talents like Mark Appleyard and was the beginning of Anthony Pappalardo's and Brian Wenning's careers. It also shows parts from Jason Dill, Josh Kalis, Danny Way, and Tim O'Connor. Dill later told that he consumed a lot of drugs during the making and didn't really want to take part.

A bit of a different video but very creative. Some of the skateboarding takes place in a warehouse where they build stuff for the video. If you're on the fence of watching it, Daewon Song pulls off some crazy stuff. Raw technical street skating and a few funny pranks to top it off.

22. Globe – Opinion (2001)

Rodney Mullen at his finest, just pure natural skateboarding. Not only Mullen steals the show, but I also love Renton Miller and Ben Pappa skating the vert. There's something magical to vert skating, and it's scary as hell. You also get a technical street treat by Chet Thomas, some amazing clean lines in this video.

23. Transworld – In Bloom (2002)

It's the year 2002 and you immediately feel this video is different from the start. They actually have a video specialist named John Gefrom and it shows. In Bloom feels holistic; voice-overs by pros about pros, great camera work, lighting, and music. They really thought this out while still keeping it real, perfectly balanced as it should be.

After the intro, the video starts off with '…this real small guy, and he's good', Evan Hernadez. Now, this guy makes sure he does what he's supposed to, sick rail backside board slides.

Tony Trujillo's intro (Wow! Yeah!) is just awesome. My god this guy shreds bowls AND street so hard and he makes it look easy. Ended up a pro skater and musician, maybe not the rock star he wanted to be, ended up in a band called "Bad Shit".

Haven't even mentioned Chris Coles' performance and the music is just spot on. Gotta love the MP, I still get goosebumps listening to that song.

24. Coliseum – PJ Ladd's Wonderful Horrible Life (2002)

Wonderful horrible life was made by Coliseum Skate shop in 2002. Take a good look at the stuff PJ Ladd pulls of, great style and performance and makes it look easy. Other skateboarders making an appearance are Ryan Gallant, Jereme Rogers, and  Alexis Sablone. This video really took off and so did their careers.

25. Flip – Sorry (2002)

Flip's Sorry was well received and immediately took off. Flip has nothing to be sorry about because this movie still holds up well today. An iconic movie for kids growing up in the 2000's, one of the greatest. It has a couple of famous clips (Boulala, Rowley and others).

Chomp was created by a few of skateboarding's most talented cinematographers, photographers, and artists. It started out as a couple of friends just filming each other and ended up as a masterpiece.

27. Zero – Dying to Live (2002)

Many great parts in this video and Zero always stood out. You should really watchDying to Live, Chris Cole's technical stuff is amazing and Jamie Thomas is insane as usual. The bonus slam section is sometimes hard to watch, ouch. That Matt Mumford intro though, holy headwound Batman!

28. Girl – Yeah Right (2003)

Another skate video directed by Jonze. What makes this video unique is the ultra-slow motion and special effects using green screen technology. Nobody saw tricks at 100 frames per second before, though nowadays slow-mos are getting annoying (IMO).

Owen Wilson makes a cameo, WOW! Maybe the best about this video is its length, 111 minutes of shredding! Great soundtrack and awesome lineup.

31. Habitat Mosaic (2003)

Habitat Mosaic is a dedicated raw street skating video with a great team of skaters. Great balance between filming, music, and editing and some intimidation tricks. No skits or unnecessary pauses and an overall relaxing experience. The stars of this video are O'Connor, Getz, Janoski, and Pappallardo but the others are quite impressive as well.

32. Almost – Round 3 (2004)

After Round 1 and Round 2, almost released Round 3 where legends Daewon Song, Rodney Mullen and others 'compete' resulting in an instant classic. This video is a bit different from the previous rounds because it also features Greg Lutzka, Ryan Sheckler, and Chris Haslam.

One-footed board slides, cross-foot Caspers, flips to rail slides, primo slides, etc all done with great consistency. This is one of the most inspirational videos ever made, even to this day. Now the question that still haunts me, who won?

33. Foundation – That's Life (2004)

If you love raw grinding, this video is for you. Leo Romero's opens with a grind fest, oh that sweet sound of trucks sliding concrete! This is a pretty raw, nostalgic street skating experience and you should seriously watch it.

34. Blind – What if (2005)

Gnarly and raw this video gets you pumped from the start. You can feel the pain by proxy when they eat shit, dang. It only took 13 years before Blind release their second video (after video days), despite being one of the biggest brands at that time.  Gotta love the old school footage of Ronnie Creager as a kid (1985), incredibly cute and he's shredding it on his old school deck! It's a work of art for sure and deserves a spot in this list.

35. Almost – Cheese and Crackers (2006)

Fun in the mini ramp! I personally think there's nothing like skating mini ramps with friends, always a good time. Well. Chris Haslam and Daewon Song have a great time, some tricks are just mind-boggling. This isn't a sport, it's art! There is one thing I really hate about this video, it's only 14 minutes.

36. Enjoi – Bag of Suck (2006)

I don't know how they came up with the title but this video is anything but a bag of suck. This video features the Enjoy skateboard team and is a must watch. It's still from (as some call it) the creative era before big brands started the demise of skateboarding.

The video is often praised for its creative skaters. It kind of reminds me of the good old days, skating with my friends and having fun. Nothing else mattered.

37. Lakai – Fully Flared (2007)

Lakai Fully Flared was one of the first skateboard videos shot in HD. It received an award for best skateboard video of 2007 at the Transworld Skateboard awards. Guy Mariano won the "Best Street" and "Best Video Part" and the film took over 4 years to make.

It was postponed for a couple of years because of new skaters joining the team.  Skateboarders like Koston, MJ, Mariano, Carroll, Howard, and new blood like Mike Mo, Alex Olson, and Lucas Puig set the new standard for skateboarding for the next decade.

38. Emerica – Stay Gold (2010)

Stay Gold was released 7 years after one of the most influential skateboarding videosThis is Skateboarding. It's hard to surpass that masterpiece but this video is a worthy successor.

This great cinematic skateboarding video experience features many skateboarding legends. Stay Gold is pure gratification and feels very natural. an eye-opening from the very first view and gets more impressive each time.

39. Zero – Cold War (2013)

Can't go wrong with Zero skate videos, Cold War is another masterpiece and the skaters destroy anything in their path. Respect for Jamie Thomas, he's still rocking it despite his age. Props to Zero for keeping punk rock alive!

40. Supreme – Cherry (2014)

Supreme is known for their collaborations with famous artists, icons, models, and incredible deck's graphic designs (which can be ludicrous expensive). Cherry is their first full-length film since 1995 and is quite different from other skateboard videos.

The filming and editing are done by William Strobeck who likes raw action instead of staged scenes. This video looks incredible and features new, current and older skaters. Cherry sets a new standard and will still be mentioned 30 years from now.
